The ancient Egyptians built many temples to honour their Gods and Goddesses to give their Gods and Goddesses somewhere to live. Each temple was a place that was committed to one god or goddess. Also this would be where the temple priests lived and the Pharaoh visited to pray.
The larger bigger temples were built out of stone which would in Egyptians theory, allow the temples to last forever. The walls inside of the temples were decorated with bright-coloured pictures that were carved out of the stone. The pictures would often be of the Pharaoh courageously fighting in battle and performing rituals with the gods and goddess.
